Hey there, hard-working parents!
DIY Scavenger Hunt
This classic Easter tradition is super fun, and the kids love it!
All Mom has to do is write some cute, little riddles on pieces of paper that hint to the location of an egg, piece of candy, or other little prize with another hint attached. All the hints lead to the grand prize of an Easter basket with eggs and treats. The more hints, the longer the game, and the more fun!
Fun Easter Family Photos
Spring is a wonderful time to take family photos. With the sun shining, flowers coming in, and Easter festivities, it couldn't be better!
This does not have to be a costly, time consuming to-do added to your list. Get the family all dolled up, and take lovely photos at a nice park or even in your living room. Simply get some Spring and Easter decorations from the Dollar Store, Target, or Walmart. Simply grab your camera, set the timer and prop it up on a stand - "hop" in the pic, and voila! Easter pics 2020!
PS: since we are missing the chance to take pics with the Easter bunny this year, you can still do a wonderful of DIY pics from your phone! Our dear partner, Liliana Manns Photography is hosting an online "iPhone Photography Lesson" class this week and you can save $5 if you book by 3/31!

Guess what Mamas! With the evolving news updates and social distancing that has become our reality, it's still important to note that Spring is quite literally just around the corner!
We are inspired to open some windows, start thinking about our plants & gardens and get cranking on our Spring cleaning! Before doing that, we wanted to share a few cleaning tips to make the most of your time at home, and also share more on the Persian New Year that takes place this week (read more on our previous blog + some fun Persian recipes to try).
Helpful Spring Cleaning Tips
TIPS FOR REMOVING CLOTHING STAINS
Before shelling out big bucks on a new wardrobe for spring, do a quick survey of the clothes you already have. Favorite shirt got an ink stain? Soak it in solution with two-parts milk and one part white vinegar overnight, then wash per usual. Stain, be gone.
CLEANING THE TOILET
It may be one of America's favorite juice mixers, but it's also a great toilet bowl cleaner. "Kool-Aid is non-toxic and it's full of citric-acid that will clean the toilet," says cleaning guru Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan. His favorite flavor? Cherry. So before you go to bed, flush and pour in a packet. Let it sit overnight (no, the color won't bleed), then flush again in the morning. That's it! (Oh, and if you don't have Kool-Aid handy, Todd Saunders, president of the Cleaning Specialists of America, says a can of Coca Cola or Pepsi can work, too.)
TIPS FOR EFFICIENT SPRING CLEANING
You've got plenty of other more interesting things to do than spring clean, that's an obvious one :) "If you have multiple bathrooms, put buckets of products in each bathroom," says cleaning specialist Laura Wittmann. "It saves you the time running around from the kitchen." Easy enough. [You can also place several folded liners for small wastebaskets underneath the current liner. This makes it quick and easy to just grab the next liner. when you're you're emptying the wastebasket.]
CLEANING WITH NEWSPAPERS
Paper towels aren't really the best for wiping down glass. "There's oil on glass, and that's where the streaking comes from, explains Gillingham-Ryan. Grab a newspaper instead, which penetrates the oil instead of smearing it. "Use dry bundles of newspaper and solution with alcohol to cut through grease on windows," he adds.
CLEANING RANDOM HOUSEHOLD ITEMS EFFICIENTLY
Think the dishwasher is just for dishes? Think again! In fact, it can be used to clean lots of other items — from sponges to plastic toys to pet dishes to plastic hairbrushes. It makes it a lot easier than hand washing every little item in your house. Just stick the items that need cleaning in, then run the dishwasher while you tend to another room.
TIP FOR CLEANING THE BLINDS
With the right equipment, it can be super easy to get that pesky dust off your blinds. Just wrap two microfiber towels around a pair of tongs, then wipe across each slat. OR, use an old (clean) sock and pretend it's a cleaning hand puppet!
HOW TO MAXIMIZE LAUNDRY TIME
The most tedious part of laundry is definitely the gathering and sorting. So Wittmann says to skip it. "Instead, wash each child's laundry separately with 1/2 cup of white vinegar (plus your detergent) to keep the colors from running—you won't even need to use fabric softener" because the acid in distilled white vinegar is strong enough to break down detergent's alkalies (so it's more effective at the cleaning part), yet mild enough to preserve and soften materials. Bonus: Your clothes will smell fresh, as the acid also cuts through any residual sweat and deodorant, and the natural odor that vinegar has fades away as your clothes dry.
Nowruz "promotes values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families," the United Nations says. It's a time of reconciliation and neighborliness, "contributing to cultural diversity and friendship among peoples and different communities."
And we could all use some of that, no matter what it's called.
Happy Nowruz Friends!!
