June 5 - World Environment Day
Our first holiday encourages awareness and action to protect our environment all around the world. We can celebrate it by picking up trash near our homes or in our lakes and parks, planting trees, flowers, and produce, and by respecting the plants and animals in our area. A fun aspect of this holiday is the theme! Last year's theme for World Environment Day was Air Pollution, while this year it's Biodiversity. Let's get planting!
June 8 - Best Friends Day
We love this day! Take this time to thank your best friend for being there for you, spend the day together, and maybe even buy them a little gift to show your appreciation. This holiday is especially fun for the little ones. Making friendship bracelets, having sleepovers, and playing games are all fun celebration activities for the kidlets on June 8!
June 20 - First Day of Summer
Finally, summer is HERE! As we pull the swimsuits and sunscreen out of their hiding spots, we imagine all the fun we'll have this summer roasting s'mores, boating, hiking, and the like. This day can be celebrated by going for a swim (backyard or at a friend's pool) or a day trip, turning on the sprinklers , or even coloring with chalk on the sidewalk! Sometimes we just gotta put on some sunblock and get messy....who wants a slice of watermelon? :)
June 21 - Father's Day
And, of course, we wouldn't forget the most important June holiday, Father's Day. We take this day to specifically remind ourselves that we wouldn't be here to day without our fathers & father figures, and we remind them how much we love them. Think about all the wonderful memories you have with your dad this June 21st! We celebrate by going hiking, fishing, and making a good, hearty meal for the end of the day.
We can't wait for all the fun holidays!! How about you? Tag @tcmobilemommy while creating your home garden, hanging out with your best friend, boating, and spending the day with Dad. By taking every opportunity to celebrate these holidays, you can make this June one to remember!
Hi, moms and dads!
May 4 Star Wars Day
May 4 is "Star Wars Day." That's right! You and your family better get the popcorn and blankets out for a marathon; it's gonna be a long one! This fun day can be celebrated by dressing up as your favorite characters, settling in for a marathon, or playing with Star Wars legos and other games. May the fourth be with you!!
May 5 Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. Let's celebrate it by learning about the significance of this day, dressing up for the holiday, playing traditional Mexican music, dancing, and making fajitas and guacamole!
May 10 Mother's Day
OF COURSE we will be celebrating the best holiday of the year cherishing our smart, strong, and hardworking mothers! Fun activities for this day include making a scrapbook for Mom, going for a family hike, cooking/baking with Mom, booking classes and trips to do together, painting together, doing a family photoshoot, recollecting the best memories with Mom, and so much more! You could even set up a session with Twin Cities Mobile Mommy for Mom;)
May 12 International Nurse Day
International Nurses Day is an international day observed around the world on May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society. Nightingale founded modern nursing during the Crimean War in the early 1850s by organizing the care of soldiers with exceptional training and managing techniques. Go Florence! Now more than ever we need to make sure we thank our nurses for their long hours and hard work on the front lines of this illness. We can celebrate these hard-working men and women by writing them thank you cards, learning about the human body, and taking care of the nurses in our lives.
May 25 Memorial Day
Many of us look forward to Memorial Day for the epic sales, backyard barbecues, and boozy summer cocktails, but it's also fun to remember what the holiday is truly about: honoring the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Before you get the grill fired up for your family's afternoon party, you could brush up on American history, listen to a veteran's story, or write letters to soldiers and their families.
Make the most of all this extra time, and spend it celebrating holidays with your family at home! Tag @tcmobilemommy while watching your Star Wars marathon, enjoying your delicious Cinco de Mayo fajitas, enjoying Mother's Day brunch, writing your nurse's thank you card, and chatting at your Memorial Day BBQ!
Hey there, hard-working parents!
DIY Scavenger Hunt
This classic Easter tradition is super fun, and the kids love it!
All Mom has to do is write some cute, little riddles on pieces of paper that hint to the location of an egg, piece of candy, or other little prize with another hint attached. All the hints lead to the grand prize of an Easter basket with eggs and treats. The more hints, the longer the game, and the more fun!
Fun Easter Family Photos
Spring is a wonderful time to take family photos. With the sun shining, flowers coming in, and Easter festivities, it couldn't be better!
This does not have to be a costly, time consuming to-do added to your list. Get the family all dolled up, and take lovely photos at a nice park or even in your living room. Simply get some Spring and Easter decorations from the Dollar Store, Target, or Walmart. Simply grab your camera, set the timer and prop it up on a stand - "hop" in the pic, and voila! Easter pics 2020!
PS: since we are missing the chance to take pics with the Easter bunny this year, you can still do a wonderful of DIY pics from your phone! Our dear partner, Liliana Manns Photography is hosting an online "iPhone Photography Lesson" class this week and you can save $5 if you book by 3/31!
