Hi, moms and dads!
May 4 Star Wars Day
May 4 is "Star Wars Day." That's right! You and your family better get the popcorn and blankets out for a marathon; it's gonna be a long one! This fun day can be celebrated by dressing up as your favorite characters, settling in for a marathon, or playing with Star Wars legos and other games. May the fourth be with you!!
May 5 Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. Let's celebrate it by learning about the significance of this day, dressing up for the holiday, playing traditional Mexican music, dancing, and making fajitas and guacamole!
May 10 Mother's Day
OF COURSE we will be celebrating the best holiday of the year cherishing our smart, strong, and hardworking mothers! Fun activities for this day include making a scrapbook for Mom, going for a family hike, cooking/baking with Mom, booking classes and trips to do together, painting together, doing a family photoshoot, recollecting the best memories with Mom, and so much more! You could even set up a session with Twin Cities Mobile Mommy for Mom;)
May 12 International Nurse Day
International Nurses Day is an international day observed around the world on May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society. Nightingale founded modern nursing during the Crimean War in the early 1850s by organizing the care of soldiers with exceptional training and managing techniques. Go Florence! Now more than ever we need to make sure we thank our nurses for their long hours and hard work on the front lines of this illness. We can celebrate these hard-working men and women by writing them thank you cards, learning about the human body, and taking care of the nurses in our lives.
May 25 Memorial Day
Many of us look forward to Memorial Day for the epic sales, backyard barbecues, and boozy summer cocktails, but it's also fun to remember what the holiday is truly about: honoring the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Before you get the grill fired up for your family's afternoon party, you could brush up on American history, listen to a veteran's story, or write letters to soldiers and their families.
Make the most of all this extra time, and spend it celebrating holidays with your family at home! Tag @tcmobilemommy while watching your Star Wars marathon, enjoying your delicious Cinco de Mayo fajitas, enjoying Mother's Day brunch, writing your nurse's thank you card, and chatting at your Memorial Day BBQ!
